I have to fact check with my brother at what age he started shooting pool in the back of our cousin’s bar room. At the corner of St. Anthony St. and Claiborne Ave. in New Orleans was a bar room (Fat’s Bar) owned by a cousin of my Grandfather Sidney Cates. I, unlike my brother, was spending my time at other parts unknown. To this day, Carl can run circles around me on a pool table even though I had a pool tournament trophy on my living room shelf until Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans.
That is Louis Armstrong playing his horn if you click the arrow in the video⬇️ below. That is just a picture of my horn. I play songs of thanksgiving on my horn often about things.
My dad used to tell me similar words to Abraham Lincoln’s words below. He advised me that Silence is Golden when he brought me as a youngster on house calls with him where he repaired TV’s (and such) as an electrical technician.
Silence is golden:
Later in life, some of the pretty young girls who saw me when I was on-call with my dad remembered me. They looked me up once they grew up so fine and lovely. Who knew that they noticed me when I sat silently in their living room or den? Thank God that my dad had taught me to SHUT UP.
When I was a youngster:
The link below also explains my nickname on another post. On Reply 2/2 at that post, I say to scroll down to see. NEVERMIND! Do not click the link “HOW DID I GET THE NICKNAME.” That is too much convoluted scrolling, etc. just to chase that rabbit down the rabbit hole. I just tried it again, and that is too hard tracking behind that rabbit. DON’T DO IT. I already explained it enough right here, thank you.
Did the Supreme Court tell LADY JUSTICE (as in, the scales of American justice are equally balanced and blind) to shut up when it handed Donald Trump an illegal/unjust victory in the New York Attorney General’s case that he lost? With this current Supreme Court, justice will never prevail when it comes to Trump. Justice does not prevail even when he loses in the lower courts.
Meanwhile, in the picture below, I am saying a Hail Mary for intercessory prayer ref: a pickup truck for myself which I need for roof work and other things. I am reminded of when quarterback Roger Staubach prayed a Hail Mary for what became known as the Hail Mary pass to defeat Minnesota with a long bomb in the last minutes of their playoff game in the 1970’s.
Hail Mary full of grace the Lord is with thee!
Arch Manning (Peyton's nephew) didn't start for Texas in 2024.
Reports had said that 2023 starter Quinn Ewers was not guaranteed the starting QB job in 2024 if he came back.
Quinn Ewers won't be guaranteed a starting job if he returns to Texas in 2024 with Arch Manning waiting in the wings. https://t.co/zKhTNco0CR
UPDATE: ⚜️ The Saints are confirmed to be sticking with Dennis Allen and Derek Carr (as expected) through at least next season, but all rumors point to New Orleans moving on from Pete Carmichael as the offensive play caller. Long overdue.
What I previously wrote: Am I the only one who sees it? It is not Derek Carr at all. It is the way the stupid coaches stick Taysom Hill in and out at QB totally disrupting Carr’s momentum. They should play Taysom like everyone else… in the conventional, professional football way. Carr (and #JameisWinston) are fine if you stop yanking them in and out for Taysom in the middle of their offensive series. It is juvenile and #bushleague.
Leave Carr alone.
How did I get my nickname Ferdie Werdie?
My grandfather Sidney Cates gave me the nickname Ferdie Werdie when I was about 5 yrs old and it has stuck ever since.
Ferdie Werdie
I also put the answer on Twitter about who gave me my nickname.
GAZETTE (Sept. 26) — I told y’all that it is dangerous playing around with hypnotism trying to reach the Cosmic Portal to get spiritual readings and such. I have been trying to get readings about the Saints games for y’all.
My trying to do self-hypnosis and readings with the limited tools that I have could be dangerous to me – could even kill me. That is what I have been picking up from the fast radio bursts in the Universe while trying to put myself under.
Two occurrences have happened with me over the last two weeks that have thrown my Cosmic “mojo” completely into a spin. I have been trying to work myself out of this. We have all heard that dealing with the spiritual realm in a laissez-faire manner can be very dangerous. It could kill you or send you into insanity (or worst).
Self-hypnosis and certain meditation methods might throw you into the wrong realm. I know that y’all have heard about the Bermuda Triangle (the Devil’s Triangle). What is it? I have “seen” from Fast intermittent radio Bursts that the Bermuda Triangle is a Portal on earth to another place or places. I know where, but I want to hold that close to my vest for now.
Meanwhile, what about Saints vs. Atlanta on Sept. 29:
MY TAKE on the Saints vs. Atlanta on Sept. 29 is relative to their NFL NETWORK Week 4 Power Ranking (still in the top 10) going into this game. On the Saint’s ranking going into Week 4: with their All Pro center out and w/o bruiser Taysom Hill available to make those all-important, tough yards for the valuable 1st downs, the Saints are a different team. They need those 2 tough guys in there to remain high in the rankings.
My dad used to tell me similar words to Abraham Lincoln’s below when he brought me as a youngster on house calls with him when he was a TV repairman.
Silence is golden!
Later in life, some of the pretty young girls who saw me when I was on-call with my dad remembered me. They looked me up once they grew up so fine and lovely. Who knew that they noticed me when I sat silently in their living room or den? Thank God that my dad had taught me to SHUT UP.
A Note About Shutting Up!
The guys below are referring to whom to shut up? De Niro or Trump?
New Orleans (2023) — Am I the only one who sees it? It is not Derek Carr at all. It is the way the coaches stick Taysom Hill in and out at QB totally disrupting Carr’s momentum. They should play Taysom like everyone else… in the conventional, professional football way. He is a wonderful bruiser for those tough yards and valuable first downs. Carr is fine if you stop yanking him in and out for Taysom in the middle of their offensive series. It is juvenile and #bushleague.

I wrote an article of interest recently. It is entitled THE FIRST CHICKEN. I had promised to post it. The last thing before this that I wrote THAT LAST HURRICANE is listed on my desk under ON FERDIE’S DESK.
Previously, I wrote from my desk about the current state of affairs concerning the ugly, hateful Republicans. Click here to read it. I entitled it THAT LAST HURRICANE which is on my mind too. I will add the story to the GAZETTE in a few days. I started writing from my editor’s desk some of my concerns.
Meanwhile…
What you have in the “Delery Gazette” are my stories and articles. On the right column, I show the list of my articles so that you may read any of my stories that you like. Have fun reading what I write. So, look at the list of my articles on the right (or click at the bottom… for the full site view from a cell); and a list of writings from my desk, FERDIE’S DESK. Also…

My last entry before Covid-19 hit:
NOTE: Mardi Gras 2020 has passed.. I will write some good stuff about what transpired over the final 5 days of the season. Firstly, I will eat; then, I will write… maybe this evening. Lo and behold COVID-19 and the quarantine hit the country, and I decided to put a hold on writing about the Mardi Gras season for right now. This quarantine has been an experience like we have not seen. I will most likely write about that firstly.
Meanwhile, I describe in this video what I will write about:
The quarantine hit.
I am about to sign off for now. My stomach is growling, then I want to do some busy work. I will get back to y’all.
What are people saying about the lousy Republicans’ allowing no witnesses? Just wondering! Mitch McConnell is a court-stocking, obstructionist who failed to allow Barack Obama to legally pick his Supreme Court nominee. McConnell would not even allow discussion on Obama’s nominee. McConnell is a Confederate along with his puppet, Donald Trump.
Ahh I’m just sick about the travesty of the impeachment non-trial. Frightened for what my country has become.
I read some words in a story about the girl below and how fine she is. Do you think she is fine? I do not think that she will see what I say here, but I think she is what you call fine as wine. That is just my opinion. Anyway, back to people’s thoughts about the dirty, lying Republicans. I am reading that many people think that the women of America will have to save us from the evil Republicans.
Do you see what the Republicans are doing to justice?
Do you see what the Republicans are doing?
Yes, I have to agree that maybe the ladies will stand tall and save us. There are many female warriors in America who are trying to bring our country back to righteousness. I believe that Congress needs to bring our Presidential election system into the 21st Century by correcting the flaws in the Electoral College which often gives the presidency to a candidate who is not elected by the majority of Americans. HORRIFIC! That leaves the important decisions of the future and the stacking of the Supreme Court in the hands of the minority. This is very unfair.
The ladies of America are proving to be a powerful block of voters.
Here is a song that I sing:
And now, the end is near
And so I face the final curtain
My friends, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and every highway
But more, much more than this
I did it my wayRegrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption
I planned each chartered course
Each careful step along the byway
But more, much more than this
I did it my wayYes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall
And did it my wayI’ve loved, laughed and cried
I’ve had my fill, my share of loosing
And now, as tears subside
I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way
Oh no, no, not me
I did it my wayFor what is a man, what has he got
If not himself then he has not
To say all the things he truly feels
And not the words of one who kneels
The record shows, I took the blows
But I did it my way
Bring Roger Goodell to trial! A Louisiana State Civil District Court judge has ordered NFL Commissioner Goodell and 3 refs who cheated the New Orleans Saints in the NFC championship game to appear in court to testify.
I had a grand ol’ time at a party last night (Saturday). I will have more to say about my weekend later on, after I finish watching the New Orleans Saints football game. More fun!!! Hahaha… By the way, I had a lot of fun this whole weekend. Plus, I have made up my mind that I want to skip the Presidential debate on Wednesday because of the stress and darkness that Donald Trump lays upon my brain. I am feeling too happy the last few days for Donald J. Trump to rain on my parade. I stopped watching cable news for a minute anyway because Trump’s lies, sexual assaults and vulgarity have truly been grieving me out. I need a little break from the Trump mania.
This morning (Sunday) I had fun too very early while practicing my trumpet. I was practicing some spiritual hymns and worship songs. Of course the Lord laid some of His joy upon me for spending time this morning praising Him. Let’s hope that the New Orleans Saints also make me happy later on this afternoon. UPDATE: The New Orleans Saints made me happy this afternoon. Very happy!! I LOVE IT.
Fun!!! Those are my horn rags around my neck. I practiced a few songs on my trumpet this morning.
That bum, Donald Trump, is a billionaire and pays no taxes to the IRS unlike every other American across the country. He has no right whatsoever to be President of the United States of America.
NEW ORLEANS (Gazette) — The New Orleans Saints do not want to make the Super Bowl any time soon, especially after trading Jimmy Graham #TheBeast to Seattle with Marshawn Lynch #TheBeast already terrorizing defenses in the NFL. Two BEASTS at the same time? HISTORICAL! I am down with that. Until further notice and unless something changes, my money is on the Seattle SuperHawks in 2015.
Now, I want Seattle to stomp on the head of the cheating New England Patriots. Seattle, you had the snake crushed in this year’s Super Bowl. You let them get away. You begin that journey this year with another beast added to your inventory. I want it. I want it!! I hope that all PATS haters around the country are salivating from their teeth itching to see the next Seattle vs. New England game.
Jimmy Graham, the new #BEAST in town.
Plus, I must say that I am amazed how popular Bettie Page still is today. I am sure that her people are making much more money than Bettie did in her day. I bought a beautiful red t-shirt which commemorated Bettie’s birthday last year. It is one of my favorite shirts. Geaux, Bettie!!
In other Saints news, I was asked my opinion of the owner’s battles with his heirs in which he is, upon his passing, leaving the running of the Saints and Pelicans exclusively to his wife. My opinion is that the teams and his fortune are his to do with as he likes. His heirs are already taken care of well enough by Mr. Benson. His wife, Gayle, will be the best person to take care of the Saints and the Pelicans once Mr. Benson is gone.
NEW ORLEANS (by Ferdie Werdie) — I have doubted the New Orleans Saints for many weeks now; and predicted 8 straight losses. However, #Purgatory? Do I deserve #Saints Purgatory? That is what Who Dats are saying. I guess what goes around, comes around. I am now on “bended knee,” reciting the Catholic “Mea Culpa” prayer of penance. Yes, it is MY FAULT. I confess that I doubted the Saints. Through my fault, through my fault, through my most grievous fault! However, I am wearing my black-and-gold pajamas right now; and I promise to wear them every night this week.
My sentence: A Who Dat named Joan told me, “Not so fast!!! The gates are closed to you!!! To gain entry you must 1st go to purgatory & remain there until you are deemed worthy to again be counted in that #! The SAINTS don’t like DAT!”
NEW ORLEANS (Gazette) — I am too happy going into Monday morning. Yes, I am in ecstasy. The New Orleans Saints are 3-0, baby. Next Monday on Monday Night Football, the Saints meet the Miami Dolphins who are also undefeated at 3-0. I cannot wait for the game. FIREWORKS, baby!!
Yes, this should be a nice long week of WHO DAT happiness. Next week, either the Saints or the Dolphins will be closing out Monday Night Football at 4-0. Hold onto your hats, Who Dat fans. Geaux Saints!
In other news, the U.S. Postal Service has created a stamp for icon musician Ray Charles.

NEW ORLEANS (Gazette) — Football Rule #1: Never take points off the board. Once the #Saints scored the early field goal on Sunday, Coach Sean Payton should not have decided to erase the points and go for the touchdown after the penalty (especially running with Mark Ingram). Keep those 3 points on the board, and come back to fight another day. It was those 3 points which almost cost the Saints the game. However, the #WhoDats were good enough on Sunday to overcome that early mistake.
Payton takes blame for taking points off board: The Saints are now 2-0 on this young NFL season, and t… http://t.co/Jp6xFdDELX#Saints
