Last night, I saw a program on PBS TV about the National Shrine of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in New Orleans on State Street. Many miracles are credited to Our Lady of Prompt Succor. Can Mary hear our prayers? The lady in the video gives the pertinent scriptures. The Shrine of Our Lady of Perpetual Help is in Haiti.
In the picture below, I am saying a Hail Mary for intercessory prayer ref: a pickup truck for myself which I need for roof work and other things. I am reminded of when quarterback Roger Staubach prayed a Hail Mary for what became known as the Hail Mary pass to defeat Minnesota with a long bomb in the last minutes of their playoff game in the ’70’s.
GAZETTE (January 1) – I wanted to say that I am studying the verse from the Scriptures that led me to say that I walk today by faith and not by sight. I am considering that this might be my New Year’s resolution for 2024: to walk by faith and not by sight all of this year. That is why I am studying this verse in order to draw up my blueprint on how to do this. I will say more later on, and take you on a visit down this rabbit hole with me. Why did I say this, and why am I studying this verse from 2 Corinth. 5:7?

The Assumption of Mary is the belief that the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ, was taken into heaven at the end of her life, body and soul. This is the glorious fruition which began when the Lord sent the Archangel Gabriel to appear to Mary when she was a teenager.
When the Archangel Gabriel was sent to Mary by the Father, he greeted her, “Hail Mary, full of grace; the Lord is with you” (Luke 1:28). Then, when Mary visited her cousin Elizabeth who was already pregnant with John the Baptist, John lept with joy inside of Elizabeth’s womb at the approach of Jesus inside of Mary. Elizabeth exclaimed, “Of all women you are the most blessed, and blessed is the fruit of your womb” (Luke 1:41-42).
The angel had said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. And now, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his ancestor David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.”
Luke 1:30-33
The Church affirmed the divinity of Jesus.
The Council of Ephesus, the 3rd Ecumenical Council, confirmed that the Virgin Mary was not just Christ-bearer as Nestorius, Patriarch of Constantinople, declared, but also God-bearer because Jesus was God and Christ. Thus, the council added the third sentence and created the Hail Mary prayer.

To this day, followers of the Patriarch’s declaration and many Protestants dishonor Mary and the divinity of Jesus by refusing to accept the Hail Mary prayer by such “God-bearer” believers even though the mouths of the Archangel and cousin Elizabeth declared these very words in the Holy Scriptures.

I will cook a batch of my cajun boudin soon, and post a picture of a new addition to my recipe. Of course, I might also write a more in-depth recipe for y’all exposing some of my secret ingredients.
In Cajun cooking, particularly that of Acadiana parish in Louisiana, boudin refers to a mixture of meat, rice, and seasonings which are then stuffed in pork casings. Pork is the most traditional meat used, but you’ll also find boudin stuffed with crawfish, alligator, or shrimp. Boiled, smoked, or grilled, boudin can be consumed virtually anywhere which makes it an easy and satisfying on-the-go meal that fisherman and hunters are especially fond of.

The Baton Rouge Advocate bought the New Orleans Times-Picayune and now we get LSU on the front page of the sports every day, and relegate Saints, Pels, Tulane to page four or further back in the newspaper. UPDATE: Word must have reached the Advocate because the newspaper has recently been fairer in its placement of stories about SAINTS, Pelicans, Tulane, etc.
Even Jesus Christ held music “upon high” in his ministry, and sang hymns when he met with his followers. Jesus’ music tradition is still carried on today in most religions which hold music up in a high place. The Scriptures say that the Lord lives in our praises. Godly, spiritual music is praise.

by FERDIE (July 4) — My stand-up comedy and music career might be over. The Corona virus shut the doors of the coffee house at which I performed for a number of years. When it opened back up (they and Algiers Point Bar where I did some open mic nights) contacted me often to come back and perform. I was not ready to go into Corona crowds yet. They eventually stopped calling. I might start back, but I still avoid Corona crowds.
Kareem Abdul Jabber at 7’2″ makes Bill Russell and Muhammad Ali (both over 6 feet tall) look short. I tell you what, as I get older, I can see people who were shorter than I now look taller than I. It surprises me, but I had a back injury with vertebrae damage.

Next, Seeing my high school yearbook picture (second picture below) brought back many memories. I am at the top, left in the picture. However, before going there, I will write about a funny incident about watermelons (first picture below). For my job, I was on a mission at Cape Kennedy working some last minute ‘touches” on the Space Shuttle before a launch. During our stay at Cape Canaveral, my job gave each one of us employees a condo with nice, large kitchens and refrigerators. In the meantime… (to be continued later).
Meanwhile, back to my yearbook picture for now… Once I hit college, I grew my hair longer and was like a run-away freight train on the loose. All of the many pretty girls at the U. of New Orleans drove me crazy. I heard my dad tell his friends on several occasions, “That boy better slow down with those girls before he hurts himself.” Now-a-days in the twilight years of my life, I lie down in bed at night racked with guilt. I want to say that I am sorry. It was not until I was older that I learned that you are supposed to save yourself for marriage. No one ever told me that the Church commands us to avoid pre-marital shenanigans. Who knew? I cry in bed at night sometimes wanting to say, “I am sorry…” to all of God’s sweet creatures who put their hearts into my hands.
When I was in high school I was more serious and reserved. The only thing that is the same now is my music. I changed 180 degrees after I took drama and speech electives at the U. of New Orleans. I was in some plays, and more-or-less changed. Yes, I obtained a sense of comedy.
Seeing my senior picture also reminded me that I wake up at night sometimes in a cold sweat wishing to God that I could express my sincere “mea culpas” to the women. MEA MAXIMA CULPA, as the Catholic repentance goes! Maybe in heaven I will be able to have my apologies reach the correct ears (their ears). In the Old Testament they did penance with ashes covering their brows and wearing torn garments. FORGIVE ME, WOMEN OF THE WORLD!!!… for I know not what I do!
My opinion is that James Franco looks like James Dean.
I guarantee you that James Franco could successfully play James Dean in a bio pic (if he has not already done so). I just flipped to the movie GIANT from 1956 and James Dean looks just like Franco.

Mitch McConnell is a court-stocking, obstructionist who failed to allow Barack Obama to legally pick his Supreme Court nominee. McConnell would not even allow discussion on Obama’s nominee. Yes, I have to agree that maybe the ladies will stand tall and save us. There are many female warriors in America who are trying to bring our country back to righteousness. I believe that Congress needs to bring our Presidential election system into the 21st Century by correcting the flaws in the Electoral College which often gives the presidency to a candidate who is not elected by the majority of Americans. HORRIFIC! That leaves the important decisions of the future and the stacking of the Supreme Court in the hands of the minority. This is very unfair.

I am leaning here on my dad’s headstone six years ago on ALL SAINTS DAY. That is my sister, Peggy, facing the tombstone. I once said to relatives that I have at times awaken at home with my daddy sitting on the edge of my bed… my grandpa Cates too. I just said, “Hey;” then they left. I miss them #mucho. Some folks guffawed/mocked this; but it is only for me… it even matters if only I think that they visited. My dad and grandfathers were so strong a part of my life when they were alive. I did not tell people this hoping they’d believe it happened. Who knows what I saw?… not even I can explain it.

In NCAA football, only the top 4 in the rankings make the playoffs. Too dumb! In pro football (only 32 teams in the league) 12 teams make the playoffs… the top 12 seeds. There are prophecies in the Holy Scriptures that prophesy that I am THE SECOND COMING. In the next few days, I will elucidate, enumerate and elaborate on the prophecies about me. Come on, man!! Have you not read in the Scriptures about the sounding of THE LAST TRUMPET? Have you not heard of the RAPTURE? In the meantime, start looking into the clouds and listening for “the sounding of the last trump.”
I am seen at the bottom of the marquee. I like to close the night out. UPDATE: last night there were many fine, gorgeous women screaming and hollering during my songs like I was the The Beatles. I am not making this up. I am more surprised than anybody. They were screaming even during some of my songs on the trumpet. All of those fine thangs in their short shorts and mini-skirts screaming and cutting up like that made me regret not filming the show.

Here is a picture of my brother and sister who have taught me (Ferdie Werdie) many lessons in life. Among those lessons is that it is sometimes important to stand up for your rights and dignity in this world. Too many people want you to just lie down and be stepped on. I have seen my brother and sister stand up for their rights, and I wish that I could be as brave as they are.

I often used the Pythagorean theorem and all of Euclidean formulas on my job for NASA and in life in general. My educational background led me to the use of many formulas from my studies in school. I scored the highest mathematics scores in the history of the school on the entrance exam to my high school, Jesuit High School of New Orleans. As I moved further into my educational career, I learned that deep mathematical theories and formulas lie at the heart of all of the hidden secrets in this life.
